About me
♥Painting with PASSION AND PURPOSE, I aim to produce pieces with lots of movement, color vibrations, and moments of rest within atmospheric compositions…..SO grateful to paint plein air here in my home county of Sonoma County, and those occasional travels beyond its borders. ♦From early on in classes and workshops, comments from other artists, instructors and the public included such words as: “Van Gogh-like, exciting, movement, has heart.” To combine my love of nature with the active work of finding and then portraying a scene is what I live for, instilling the painting with the energy & vibrancy of place, as it comes to me. I received my certificate in drawing & painting in 2002, from Santa Rosa Junior College, continuing with workshops over the years with: Judy Butler, Joan Hoffman, Greg La Rock, Kevin MacPherson, and Charles Waldman, & short demos in my AWS art group with local favorites including: Carole Gray-Weihman, Randall Sexton, Tim Horn, & Camille Przwodek. I also follow an amazing plein air painter, Roos Schurring, stunning atmospheric works with great energy....great online marketing tips.... In May, 2012, I won *“Artist of the Month,” Kevin MacPherson, judge, for my "tunnel" composition ala Edgar Payne, in the Artists Mentor Online challenge. He said my piece was: “....exciting, mysterious, (with) lost and found edges….;" I was happy to gain such notice from one of my top-revered, favorite plein air painters, for my painting of a favorite Healdsburg site, in Dry Creek’s wine country, Lambert Bridge. The AMO site is no longer active, Linda Fisler was Kevin's assistant in that endeavor, link has become incomplete:https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?id=242270659176072&story_fbid=430088957009992 This also won a Judge’s award upon Healdsburg Art Center’s Wall, May 2013, Plein Air Show, Richard McDaniel, judge, Linda Fisler was This year, 2015, I had an amazing Art Residency in May.....up before dawn, resting mid day when light was flat & I could treat my carpal tunnel & read some of the art books, no computer , tv, nor companions , I could focus on just creating art, & LOVED the studio space. 24 pieces, 17 days....so thankful for the support of my husband, who cared for our home, 3 cats & back up care for my feral cat colony. http://chalkhillresidency.com |
